Jerusalem, 25 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Amai Proteins announced that its sweet protein, sweelin, has been approved by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) for use as a sweetening agent in food and beverage products, marking a key expansion into Asia. The approval follows the product’s U.S. FDA GRAS status and positions Singapore as the first Asian market to authorize a precision fermentation-derived sweet protein.

According to the company, sweelin enables significant sugar reduction while maintaining taste and formulation performance. The milestone supports Singapore’s food innovation strategy and opens commercial opportunities across the Asia-Pacific region.
