Jerusalem, 7 July, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A shooting in the Israeli-Arab town of Tamra on Tuesday left one man dead and another seriously injured, emergency officials said as a wave of homicides continued.

The 33-year-old victim was transported to Haifa’s Rambam Hospital in critical condition, where doctors later declared him dead. A second man, 29, was also evacuated to Rambam Hospital for treatment.

Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedic Adnan Abu Rumi described the scene, saying: “When we arrived at the scene, we saw a commotion and two men who were injured in a violent incident. One of them was unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing. We began performing CPR and evacuated him to the hospital in critical condition.”

Police said officers were investigating the incident and that the circumstances appeared to be criminal.

Surging Violence in the Israeli-Arab community is widely attributed to organized crime groups engaged in turf wars and efforts to eliminate rivals. These networks are reported to be involved in extortion, money laundering, and the trafficking of weapons, drugs, and women.

Critics, including community activists and public figures, argue that the Crime Wave has worsened since Itamar Ben-Gvir, a far-right politician, became National Security Minister in 2022. Others attribute the trend to long-standing systemic enforcement gaps and entrenched criminal networks.
