Jerusalem, 16 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel Railways warned of major train disruptions beginning Sunday after a freight train severely damaged electrification cables near Ganot Junction, south of Tel Aviv, and between Hadera and Netanya. The incident, which occurred Friday for reasons still under investigation, left hundreds of meters of infrastructure unusable. Reinforced crews are working nonstop, but repairs are expected to take several days.

The disruptions coincide with peak summer travel at Ben-Gurion Airport and nationwide demonstrations calling for the return of hostages. Israel Railways said it is investigating the cause and will release its findings once the inquiry is complete.
