Jerusalem, 5 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Israeli agency COGAT (Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories: judea and samaria and towards the Gaza Strip) said, following the government’s decision to expand the scope of humanitarian aid being sent into Gaza and after staff work formulated within the defense establishment, a mechanism was approved to resume the entry of goods through the private sector into Gaza in a gradual and controlled manner.

This, it said, is with the aim of increasing the scope of aid entering the Gaza Strip, while reducing dependence on the collection of aid by the UN and international organizations. The IDF (Israel Defense Forces), through the Border Patrol Agency, in cooperation with the security agencies, will continue to operate control and supervision mechanisms over the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip, while taking all possible actions to prevent the involvement of the Hamas terrorist organization in the processes of bringing and distributing aid.

As part of the formulation of the mechanism, a limited number of local merchants were approved by the security establishment, subject to a number of criteria and a strict security assessment.

The approved goods include basic food products, baby food, fruits and vegetables, and hygiene equipment. Payments for the purchase of goods will be made by bank transfers only under a control and supervision mechanism.

All goods will undergo strict inspection by the Land Crossings Authority at the Ministry of Defense, before entering the Gaza Strip, said COGAT.
