Jerusalem, 2 December, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Ministry of Environmental Protection published a new call for support for coastal authorities in the Mediterranean and Red Seas in the amount of 9,776,770 Shekels ($3.1 million) until November 2026.

Another one million Shekels ($320,000) will be allocated to establish infrastructure to encourage the use of reusable utensils and to strengthen facilities to increase cleanliness on beaches, including facilities for collecting waste on undeclared beaches, collection facilities to prevent waste from reaching beaches from the Upper Niger Drain, supervision of the law prohibiting the use of single-use plastics on beaches, and the establishment of infrastructure facilities or equipment to encourage the use of reusable utensils.

The ministry’s support will enable local authorities and selected clusters to establish practical infrastructure to reduce waste on the beaches, as detailed below: facilities that will prevent waste from reaching the sea from the upper reaches at 166 discharge points, waste collection stations along 153 km of open beaches, and the installation of facilities to encourage the use of reusable utensils such as washing sinks and bottle filling faucets.
