Jerusalem, 25 December, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Wednesday night, shots were fired at suspects in the Nitzana area in the western Negev Desert. According to the IDF (Israel Defense Forces), an initial investigation into the incident revealed that, after the end of a planned military activity outside the area, an IDF soldier and a civilian returned there in a civilian vehicle and identified several masked suspects engaged in a smuggling operation.

At this point, the civilian opened fire using not only his personal weapon, but the soldier’s weapon as well, aiming at the wheels of the suspects’ vehicle.

This caused the vehicle to deviate from its path, killing one of the suspects.

The citizen’s conduct in the aforementioned circumstances is being investigated by a joint investigation team of the Military Police and the Israel Police, said the IDF.
