Jerusalem, 2 november, 2025 (TPS-IL) — A search is currently underway for the possible remains of the IDF’s former Advocate General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi who resigned in the midst of a scandal over her having leaked a video of soldiers accused of assaulting a Palestinian security prisoner.

Tomer-Yerushalmi has been missing all day and her car was found abandoned Sunday evening at HaTzuk (cliff) Beach, located on the northern end of Tel Aviv.

A suicide note was reportedly found in her car.

She is believed to have killed herself.

The IDF stated that following the publications about the search for Tomer-Yerushalmi, the Chief of Staff instructed the Operations Directorate to activate “all means at the IDF’s disposal to try to locate her as soon as possible.”

Maj. Gen. Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, resigned on Friday after admitting she approved the August release of the video, which appeared to show reservist soldiers surrounding a Palestinian detainee lying face down on the floor, shielding him with riot gear at the Sde Teiman detention facility in July 2024. The detainee was later hospitalized with injuries and six defendants were sentenced.
