Jerusalem, 14 December, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Minister of Environmental Protection Idit Silman hosted in Jerusalem the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment of Cyprus, Dr. Maria Panayiotou, a professional team on her behalf, and the Ambassador of Cyprus to Israel, Mr. Cornelius Cornelius. The meeting was intended to expand and deepen environmental cooperation between the countries, as part of the bilateral system between them and the trilateral system with Greece.

The ministers discussed the challenges of the water sector in both countries, especially in arid regions. Minister Silman presented the activities of DeserTech – the Israeli innovation center for dealing with climate change in a desert environment – a technological frontier that can also serve Cyprus in the areas of water, agriculture and renewable energy, and in urban preparedness for the effects of climate change.
