As a result, a Pandemic Response Team (PRT) meeting will be held tomorrow, Sunday, December 7, to review data and discuss recommendations for preventing unusual flu outbreaks.

The Ministry of Health emphasizes that while the flu vaccine does not completely prevent infection, it generally helps reduce the severity of the illness and significantly lowers the risk of serious complications or death.

The ministry again urges the public to get vaccinated against the flu. The vaccine is safe and recommended for anyone six months and older.

The vaccine is available free of charge through health maintenance organizations (HMOs).
