Israel faces an early, severe flu season. The Advisory Committee on Epidemic Control urges everyone to get the flu vaccine, advising sick individuals to stay

Breaking News

Data from the meeting show that this year’s Influenza season in Israel and elsewhere started early and is already severe, with severe illness among children. Global trends suggest a particularly serious season ahead.

The Advisory Committee on Epidemic Control recommends that everyone get vaccinated against the flu.

While the vaccine does not completely prevent infection, it greatly reduces disease severity and the risk of serious illness or death.

Anyone with flu symptoms should stay home until fully recovered and avoid exposing others, including keeping sick children out of school and daycare.

The Ministry of Health emphasizes that the vaccine is safe, recommended for everyone six months and older, and provides the most effective protection.

The flu vaccine is available free at health maintenance organizations (HMOs).

Ministry experts will continue exploring ways to increase vaccination rates and address other issues raised during the expert meeting.
