Israel Hits 20 Year High in Traffic Fatalities in 2025
Israel's road fatalities hit a 20-year high in 2025 with 459 deaths, as the fatality rate per 100,000 residents climbed to 4.5.
Jerusalem, 10 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics reported that the year 2025 saw a 20 year high in traffic accident fatalities with 459 road deaths.
Since the founding of the > 🇮🇱🇦🇷”>State of Israel in 1948 until the end of 2025, a total of 33,893 people were killed in road accidents across the country.
Also, the number of fatalities decreased from a peak of 756 in 1975 to an average of 368 fatalities per year between 2015 and 2025.
In the past decade, the fatality rate per 100,000 residents in Israel decreased from 4.4 in 2016 to an average of 3.7 for the years 2018 – 2023.
However, in 2024 the rate rose again to 4.4, and in 2025 it reached 4.5 per 100,000 people.
