Gaza Hospital Doctor Identified as Hamas Platoon Commander Killed in Airstrike

Jerusalem, 1 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Defense Forces confirmed the death of a Hamas platoon commander who also worked as a doctor on Monday.

The IDF said it killed Jamal Abu Aun in a Saturday airstrike in Central Gaza. According to the IDF, Aun also worked as a doctor at the Yafa Hospital in Deir al-Balah.

“During the recent period, he was involved in promoting efforts to build strength, restore, and strengthen the Hamas Terrorist organization, in violation of the ceasefire agreement,” the IDF said.
