Converge Bio Uses AI To Enhance Cancer Therapy With Single Prompt

Israeli startup Converge Bio enhanced cancer drug cetuximab using AI, generating 100,000 antibody candidates and identifying a stronger option.

Jerusalem, 5 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli-founded biotech startup Converge Bio said its artificial intelligence platform improved the cancer drug cetuximab in an internal study completed in eight hours using a single AI prompt. The Boston- and Tel Aviv-based company said its ConvergeAB platform generated 100,000 antibody candidates and identified one that demonstrated binding to the EGFR receptor at more than double the strength of cetuximab in laboratory validation tests. The findings led to a provisional patent filing.

Cetuximab is commonly used to treat colorectal, head, and neck cancers. Converge Bio said the results highlight AI’s potential to accelerate drug discovery and improve existing therapies while reducing the need for lengthy trial-and-error research processes.
