Zeitoun Battalion Leader and October 7 Terrorist Eliminated in Gaza
The IDF eliminated Hamas sniper Louay al-Shaam Mahmoud Batzal in Gaza, a Zeitoun Battalion member involved in the October 7 attack and planning future assaults.
Jerusalem, 24 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) reported that, over the weekend, its forces eliminated in Gaza the terrorist Louay al-Shaam Mahmoud Batzal, who served as a sniper in the Zeitoun Battalion of the Hamas terror organization and who posed an immediate threat to Israeli forces. The Zeitoun Battalion is based in the Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City.
Following an intelligence investigation, said the IDF, it emerged that Batzal infiltrated the Zikim military base during the massacre of October 7, and in recent times, he worked to carry out terror attacks against IDF forces operating in Gaza.
