Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed the newly clinched Lebanon agreement as a “major achievement” for Israel, declaring it a severe blow to Iran and vowing that Israeli forces will remain in the southern Lebanon security zone until Hezbollah is fully disarmed.
Speaking in Jerusalem as representatives signed the US-mediated accord in Washington, Netanyahu emphasized that the deal effectively strips Iran and its proxies of influence in the border region.
“Essentially Israel, Lebanon, and the United States are telling them: This is none of your business,” Netanyahu said in a statement before the Jewish Sabbath. “You have no role in southern Lebanon—neither you, nor Hezbollah, nor any other terrorist organization.”
