23% of Israelis Report Feeling Discriminated Against

A 2025 Social Survey found 23% of Israelis aged 20 and over experienced discrimination based on factors including religion, ethnicity, and gender.

Jerusalem, 2 July, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics reported that 23% of the population (about 1.5 million people) aged 20 and over in Israel felt discriminated against in the past year , based on one of these reasons: age, nationality, ethnic origin, religion, skin color, gender, sexual orientation, or physical or mental disability.

Also, 12% (about 785,000 people) felt discriminated against on the basis of their religion/belief : 10% of Jews and 22% of members of other religions. Among Jews, the feeling of discrimination increases the higher the level of religiosity: 5.6% of the secular, 5.1% of the traditional, 13% of the religious and 37% of the ultra-Orthodox.

This is based on data from the “2025 Social Survey: Feeling of Discrimination.”
