The defense period for northern communities will be extended.

Northern communities will see defense time extended from immediate to 15 or 30 seconds in 72 locations starting next week.

Home Front Command Commander, Major General Ori Gordin, met today (Friday) with heads of authorities in the north and presented to them the expected change in the defense time for northern communities. As part of the dialogue with the heads of authorities, issues were raised by them that will be examined further alongside the change in defense time, in order to refine and improve the response to citizens.

Out of a deep commitment to the security of citizens and the improvement of defense capabilities, the Home Front Command, in cooperation with the Northern Command and the Air Force, has completed a professional process in recent days to extend defense times in communities on the confrontation line.

As part of this, a team of experts was established that examined the systems and capabilities, and led a series of operational and technological adjustments.

The change will come into effect gradually during the coming week, at the end of which each community and authority will receive an update. When receiving an alert, it is required to act according to the instructions.

Summary of Changes:

* In 58 communities, the defense time will be extended from immediate to 15 seconds.
* In 8 communities, the defense time will be extended from immediate to 30 seconds.
* In 6 communities, the defense time will be extended from 15 seconds to 30 seconds.
* In 10 communities, there will be no change in defense time.

The implementation will be carried out gradually, with ongoing monitoring and in accordance with operational conditions.

Throughout the war, the Home Front Command has been conducting continuous learning and improvement processes, listening to the field and the public, and constantly working to improve the response to the citizens of the State of Israel, in accordance with the components of the campaign. These steps now allow for an extension of warning times for residents on the confrontation line.
