In anticipation of the Passover holidays, the IDF, led by the Operations Directorate, conducted a multi-arena operational readiness exercise and ordered force reinforcements in all sectors according to the situation assessment.
For the purpose of increased readiness and alertness during the holidays:
- The IDF reinforced forces in the three regional commands throughout the Passover holiday period.
- Additional operational measures were deployed to strengthen defense and maintain the security of residents.
- Procedures for IDF personnel leaving for home and abroad were refined according to the situation assessment.
Regarding the entry of hikers into firing ranges in various sectors, during the upcoming Passover holiday, all firing ranges in the Northern Command and Central Command will be closed to public hiking.
Regarding the Southern Command, live fire training will not take place in some of the firing ranges, thus allowing entry into these areas, with prior coordination and approval.
We emphasize that civilian entry will be permitted according to the defense policy and instructions of the Home Front Command.
Hikers who encounter shrapnel, unexploded ordnance, ammunition, or a suspicious object are requested to move away from it and report immediately to the Southern Command Operations Center at the attached phone number.
We emphasize that any entry into a military area requires prior coordination and approval. Entry into a military area without prior coordination and approval endangers the safety of hikers. Entry of hikers into permitted areas will be allowed with coordination at least three days in advance with the Operations Center. Coordination will not be carried out on Shabbat or during the holiday itself.
The IDF requests the public not to enter prohibited areas and to allow the security forces to continue carrying out their missions.
