Jerusalem, 6 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s electricity reform is gaining momentum: Over 400,000 Israeli customers have already switched to private suppliers, and 25,000 households and businesses submitted switching requests in April. The Ministry of Energy said 2 million citizens are now enjoying electricity at a reduced price.

The electricity reform allows every consumer to switch from the electric company to a private electricity supplier and receive a discount of 7% to 20% on the price of electricity. To date, almost two million citizens have joined the reform, and in April, 25,441 households and businesses submitted porting requests.

At the beginning of the year, another thousand megawatts entered the competitive market, which are expected to increase competition and discounts, and in addition, the porting time was shortened from 14 days to just 7.

The electricity reform allows every consumer in Israel to choose which supplier they purchase their electricity from and benefit from a 7%-20% discount on the electricity rate. The move saves every household hundreds or even thousands of shekels a year depending on the supplier’s offers, the nature of use and the hours of electricity consumption.
