Consumer Confidence Index Up Slightly in May
Israel's consumer confidence index improved to -16% in May 2026, up from April's -20%, driven by increased optimism about future household economic situations.
Jerusalem, 9 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics reported that in May 2026 the consumer confidence index stood at -16%, up from -20% in April.
There has been a change in one of the four balance sheets that make up the index:
The balance sheet relating to the expected change in the household’s economic situation in the coming year rose to 1%.
The relative consumer confidence index rose to 89.
The consumer confidence index ranges from minus 100 to plus 100. The closer the index value is to the upper limit, the greater optimism among individuals, and the closer the index value is to the lower limit, the greater pessimism.
