Germany Boosts Funding for Yad Vashem Research and Holocaust Education

Germany will boost its annual funding for Yad Vashem to €5 million through 2030, supporting Holocaust research and education during FM Johann Waddepaul's Israel.

Jerusalem, 7 July, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Germany will increase its annual financial support for Yad Vashem to €5 million ($5.7 million) through 2030 under a new agreement set to be signed during German Foreign Minister Johann Waddepaul’s visit to Israel on Tuesday. The funding will support Holocaust research, documentation, education and commemorative activities.

The move follows meetings last year between Yad Vashem Chairman Danny Dayan and German officials in Berlin. The agreement will later be submitted to the Knesset and approved by the Israeli government.
