Jerusalem, 14 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Defense Ministry signed a $34 million contract with Cyclone, to develop an extended-range capability for the F-35 “Adir” stealth fighter, manufactured by Lockheed Martin. The project will focus on designing and integrating external fuel tanks based on an existing Cyclone system originally developed for the F-16.

According to the ministry, the upgrade is expected to significantly extend the aircraft’s operational range, reduce dependence on aerial refueling, and increase mission flexibility for long-range operations.

Cyclone is a wholly owned subsidiary of Elbit Systems.
