Tunnel discovered near Az-Zeim checkpoint - Judea and Samaria District police officers arrested two suspects for digging it and carrying out terrorist activities, following a report from the Civil Administration about the identification of a tunnel in the Az-Zeim checkpoint area.
The forces located the tunnel that was dug from the Judea and Samaria areas towards Israeli territory at a depth of approximately 25 meters. In addition, the forces seized digging tools, water bottles, gloves, face masks, and additional equipment. Criminal identification investigators from the Judea and Samaria District began collecting evidence and findings. In doing so, the investigators uncovered forensic findings, including DNA, which led to the identification of two suspects: a Palestinian resident of Al-Eizariya and an East Jerusalem resident in his 30s. In the early morning, in an operation by the Minorities Unit of the Judea and Samaria District Special Operations Unit, together with Border Police fighters from Judea and Samaria and Jerusalem District police officers, the two were arrested and transferred for investigation. The suspicion is being examined that this is a tunnel that was recently dug and was intended for the commission of security offenses, including terrorist acts and the infiltration of illegal residents into the country.
