When he noticed three Israelis traveling within the village, he decided to harm them when they slowed down their journey. After driving behind them for a short time, the defendant intentionally hit the Ranger vehicle in which the three were traveling at the time. As a result, the Ranger vehicle rolled into a wadi, and the death of Yehuda Sherman, z”l, who was driving the vehicle, was determined nearby. Police forces from the Judea and Samaria District, forensic investigators, and traffic accident examiners, along with the IDF and Shin Bet, were dispatched to the scene and began collecting findings and evidence. The suspect, a resident of Beit Ummar in his 50s, was arrested, and upon completion of his investigation, a statement of claim was filed regarding the intention to file an indictment against him in the coming days by the Military Prosecutor’s Office. In addition, during the investigation, the son of the main suspect was arrested on suspicion of his involvement in the incident, and during a search conducted at his home, a Carlo submachine gun and a hunting rifle were seized.
