Jerusalem, 10 December, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israeli President Isaac Herzog met with US Ambassador to the UN Mike Walz in Jerusalem on Wednesday. Herzog thanked Walz for his role in advancing last month’s U.N. Security Council Resolution endorsing U.S. President Donald Trump’s initiative to end the war in Gaza.

Herzog stressed the need for the peace plan’s full implementation, including the immediate return of the remains of Police Master Sgt. Ran Gvili, the last hostage still held in Gaza.

Walz said the plan’s next steps include forming a “Peace Council,” rebuilding Gaza under a technocratic Palestinian Authority, and deploying an international stabilization force, adding that Hamas “must go.”
