Mordechai ‘Motti’ Edrei Appointed Head of Israel’s Road Safety Authority
Jerusalem, 17 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Minister of Transportation and Road Safety Miri Regev announced today that she has selected retired Deputy Commissioner Mordechai “Motti” Edrei as Chairman of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA). His appointment will soon be submitted for approval by the committee for Reviewing Appointments in Government Authorities and the Government. Edrei will replace the outgoing Chairman of the NRSA Council, retired Commissioner Yoram Halevi.
Edrei served for about 35 years in the Israel Police and held a variety of senior positions, including an officer in the Investigations and Intelligence Division in the Central District, Commander of the Central Police Headquarters, Commander of the Lowlands Region, and Deputy Commander of the Southern District. In addition, he served as a consultant in the field of civil security and defense in the cities of Gedera and Lod. He advised the Insurance Companies Association on the subject of vehicle thefts, and served as the Election Integrity Supervisor on the Elections Committee for the 25th Knesset.
