Israel’s Military Chief: ‘Damage to Hezbollah will Continue to Intensify’

IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir vowed to intensify damage to Hezbollah, reporting over 1,000 eliminated terrorists and ongoing operations in southern Lebanon.

Jerusalem, 5 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — IDF (Israel Defense Forces) Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, today (Sunday) toured the area of the village of Ras el-Bayada, the northernmost point in southern Lebanon where IDF forces are currently operating.

As part of his visit, the Chief of Staff held a situation assessment and a commanders’ dialogue with senior staff.

“The IDF is inflicting severe, widespread, and multi-focal damage on the Hezbollah terrorist organization,” said Zamir. “This includes its operatives, command and control, terrorist infrastructure, military capabilities, weapons, economic capabilities, and more. Hezbollah has over 1,000 eliminated terrorists and the number will continue to rise. The damage to Hezbollah will continue to intensify.”

“The goal of disarming Hezbollah is defined as a super goa,” headed, “this is an ongoing goal that existed before the current campaign – the current campaign will advance it. As defined, we will advance it on the basis of the IDF’s operational achievements and through steps that will be led by the political echelon and while preserving the military’s freedom of action to eliminate threats.”
