Prime Minister Netanyahu's office has taken control of the National Digital Directorate, aiming to boost government efficiency and innovation in technology.

Jerusalem, 17 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The government approved at a cabinet meeting to transfer the National Digital Directorate from the Ministry of Economy and Industry to the Prime Minister’s Office. This is part of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s policy to transfer all technological super-units under the Prime Minister’s Office, so that they can work together and lead the country forward in these important areas.

This move will allow the National Digital System to promote innovative projects that cross all government ministries: moving systems to the cloud, advanced use of data and artificial intelligence, connecting digital services, improving personal areas, and reducing bureaucracy for citizens.

The transfer of the areas of activity of the National Digital System “constitutes an important step in promoting government efficiency and effectiveness by creating the necessary connections between various national initiatives and initiatives (accelerating artificial intelligence, cyber defense, digitization, and implementing advanced tools in government work),” said the Prime Minister’s Office.
