In the daily situation assessment held today, the Director-General of the Ministry of Health, Moshe Bar Siman Tov, ordered an increase in the readiness level of hospitals in the north, with an emphasis on preparing for mass casualty incidents in accordance with the preliminary preparedness conducted for this purpose.

In light of the security developments in the north of the country, the Ministry of Health is leading increased preparedness with the managements of hospitals in the area, with the aim of ensuring full readiness to receive casualties, while strengthening aspects of manpower, infrastructure, and medical equipment.

As part of the preparedness, the Director-General instructed to reinforce medical manpower and prepare reinforcement capsules of medical teams for hospitals in the north, including anesthesiologists, surgeons, and emergency medicine teams to the required extent, alongside intensive care beds, therapeutic technologies, and relevant medical equipment inventory.

Within this framework:

  • Carmel Hospital is reinforcing the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya
  • Tel Aviv Medical Center (Ichilov) is reinforcing Ziv Hospital

In addition, since the beginning of the war in October 2023, the Ministry has promoted the opening of new medical services in the north, including neurosurgical response at Ziv Hospital, which expands the treatment capabilities in the area.

The preparedness is being carried out within the framework of the Ministry of Health‘s overall national management, and in continuous coordination with the Home Front Command, the Northern Command, and the Chief Medical Officer’s headquarters.

The readiness level will be updated according to developments and situation assessments.
