Jerusalem, 24 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Eli Cohen, signed new regulations to regulate the natural gas professions in Israel. Israel’s Natural Gas Authority called this a “dramatic step in Israel’s natural gas economy.”

The new regulations, for the first time, comprehensively regulate the professions involved in natural gas work in Israel, and establish mandatory training, certification and licensing tracks for the design, operation and maintenance of natural gas facilities. They establish uniform professional standards, threshold requirements for those involved in the field, and clear rules for performing gas work, with the aim of ensuring a high level of safety, professionalism and reliability throughout the entire value chain of the natural gas sector.

“The regulations constitute a central pillar in strengthening safety in the industry and include a combination of theoretical and practical training, regulation of various areas of specialization, and the implementation of supervisory, control and enforcement mechanisms,” said the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. “This move is intended to reduce risks, raise the level of professionalism in the industry, and create regulatory certainty for parties operating in the natural gas economy.”
