Jerusalem, 11 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Construction and Housing has begun screenings for professional workers in India for the first time today, Wednesday.

The Ministry, is looking for workers for Israel’s renovation industry in the Indian city of Kanpur, in cooperation with the Population and Immigration Authority and the Renovation Contractors Association.

“This is another significant step aimed at expanding the pool of professional workers in the industry and helping to cope with the shortage of manpower,” said the Ministry.

During the selection week, approximately 1,200 candidates will be tested in the plastering, flooring, drywall and construction trades. Workers who successfully pass the tests are expected to undergo additional professional training prior to their arrival in Israel and integration into the industry.

The move in India joins the activity carried out last year in Sri Lanka, in which candidates for the renovation industry were tested, and 1,633 employees successfully passed, data indicating the high demand and the importance of expanding recruitment sources.
