Jerusalem, 30 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s National Fraud Investigation Unit concluded a major corruption probe involving Petah Tikva Mayor Rami Greenberg, the city’s municipal director, and several local businessmen, the Israel Police said on Wednesday. The case centers on allegations of bribery, fraud, and election-related offenses tied to Greenberg’s 2018 mayoral campaign.

Investigators suspect campaign financing was exchanged for municipal appointments and preferential treatment in city tenders. Authorities seized assets worth roughly NIS 8.5 million ($2.5 million) and uncovered unreported campaign donations disguised as citizen contributions. A state witness provided extensive digital evidence. The case files were handed over today to the State Attorney’s Office for further action.
