Jerusalem, 13 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Environmental Protection is issuing a new call for applications to local authorities totaling 8.5 million Shekels ($2.6 million) to support the purchase and installation of innovative technological systems: cameras and noise detectors that identify noise emanating from sirens that are not intended to prevent danger. These systems will enable effective enforcement against noisy drivers and vehicles, contribute to improving the quality of life of residents, and reduce noise pollution in public spaces.
This call for proposals is in addition to the ministry’s support that was transferred at the beginning of the year to nine local authorities for a total of approximately 10 million shekels. As part of this support, 43 advanced cameras will be deployed in the urban area. Their installation will begin according to the schedules set in the KOK. The expansion of support will allow additional authorities to join the nationwide initiative to reduce noise pollution in the public space.
“Noise from vehicles is not just a daily nuisance but a serious environmental and health hazard that harms residents,” said the Ministry. “Installing the systems will allow for more precise enforcement, contribute to deterrence and increase awareness, and reduce the phenomenon of unnecessary sirens and loud noise from vehicles (noise that is not related to the proper operation of the vehicle, such as noise that sounds like explosions, gunfire, or alarms).”
The Ministry of Environmental Protection calls on local authorities with more than 50,000 residents or clusters of cooperating authorities to submit applications by November 18, 2025.
