Jerusalem, 4 June, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Energy Minister Eli Cohen inaugurated Israel’s first National Institute for Energy and Electrochemical Storage at Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan. The initiative, in partnership with the Technion, aims to drive innovation in battery tech, hydrogen energy, and carbon capture.
The institute is a key pillar of a national Energy Innovation Hub and will support research, commercialization, and collaboration across academia, industry, and government. Officials hailed it as a milestone toward climate-tech leadership, with selected projects already underway, including sodium-ion battery development and lithium-ion recycling.
