Jerusalem, 14 May, 2025 (TPS-IL) — In preparation for the Lag BaOmer holiday on Thursday night and in light of recent severe fires that have occurred across the country, the Ministry of Environmental Protection called on the public, local and regional authorities, and the education system to refrain from lighting bonfires and to act responsibly for public health, to prevent air pollution, and to reduce the risk of fires.

This comes along with an order from the Commissioner of Fire and Rescue issuing a blanket ban on lighting fires in open areas throughout the country from Thursday, May 9, 2025 until Saturday, May 18, 2025 at 11:59 PM.

The Lag BaOmer holiday is usually marked by the holding of bonfires across the country.
