1,518 illegal foreign residents voluntarily leave Israel amid ongoing wars and reduced flights. Majority from Eritrea. Top 5 countries revealed.

Jerusalem, 27 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Population and Immigration Authority said the data indicate that since the beginning of 2025, 1,518 illegal foreign residents voluntarily left Israel through its Voluntary Departure Assistance Unit.

This was despite the continuation of the “Iron Swords” war and Operation “Rising Lion,” which reduced flights to and from Israel.

Approximately 80% of the illegal residents who left voluntarily are citizens of Eritrea, with the top five countries being:

Eritrea: 1,210
Russia: 51
Ethiopia: 42
India: 30
South Africa: 22

In total, citizens of 33 different countries left voluntarily, including Belarus, Nigeria, Ghana, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and more.
