The establishment ceremony of the ‘Alumot’ unit in the C4I and Cyber Defense Directorate was held yesterday (Wednesday) at the Gideonim base, headed by the Head of the C4I Directorate, Major General Aviad Dagan, and with the participation of the Head of the Information and Artificial Intelligence Division, Brigadier General B’, the unit commander, Colonel S’, the commanders’ forum, and the unit’s personnel.

The unit is being established against the backdrop of changing combat challenges and the growing need for rapid development of information and artificial intelligence capabilities for the battlefield. The unit is intended to serve as a technological-operational hub for the development of information platforms and capabilities for processing and making information accessible to the IDF forces. It produces and develops technological systems for information and artificial intelligence for the operational edge.

The unit is comprised of combat soldiers, technology personnel, information researchers, and artificial intelligence experts. It will operate collaboratively with all branches and bodies in the IDF in order to adapt technological solutions for the operational user. The establishment of the ‘Alumot’ unit reflects the need to continue and deepen the IDF’s information advantage in the combat arena and in the learning competition against the enemy. 

The Head of the C4I and Cyber Defense Directorate, Major General Aviad Dagan, said: “The integration between the combat soldier in the field and the advanced technological capabilities that the IDF possesses has enabled many of the war’s achievements. The battlefield is constantly evolving before our eyes and requires us to learn and renew at all times. The ‘Alumot’ unit will operate to develop and make the information and artificial intelligence capabilities at our disposal accessible to the soldiers at the edge.”
