Security Forces Search for Source of Reported Gunfire Near Hebron
Israeli security forces launched a broad operation in Hebron's Jalis neighborhood after reported gunfire, detaining dozens of suspects and searching for.
Jerusalem, 18 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) said that earlier today (Wednesday), a report was received of gunfire heard in the Jalis neighborhood on the outskirts of Hebron.
Immediately after receiving the report, IDF, Shin Bet (Israel’s anti-terror General Security Service) and Border Police forces entered the area for a broad operational activity with the aim of arresting armed individuals and confiscating weapons.
The forces began searching dozens of locations in the neighborhood and detained dozens of suspects.
In parallel with the activity, the forces are blocking nearby roads and a cordon has been imposed on the Jalis neighborhood.
