Jerusalem Police Ready for First Friday of Ramadan

Jerusalem police are on high alert with over 3,000 officers deployed for the first Friday of Ramadan, ensuring safe access for tens of thousands to the Old City.

Jerusalem, 19 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Jerusalem District police and police reinforcement forces have been operating in a reinforced format since Wednesday, in order to allow tens of thousands of worshippers to reach the Old City of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount safely and securely. For prayers on the first Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which began this week.

Friday is the Muslim sabbath.

Over 3,000 police officers will operate tomorrow (Friday) throughout the city of Jerusalem, in the Jerusalem area and at the crossings, with the aim of allowing full freedom of worship for all denominations and religions, and the proper and safe holding of prayers on the Temple Mount.
