Israeli Army Sends a Second Division Into Lebanon

The IDF's 36th "Ga'ash" Division has launched a ground operation in southern Lebanon, joining the 91st Division to counter Hezbollah threats and enhance.

Jerusalem, 17 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) reported that its 36th “Ga’ash (Rage)” Division has begun in recent days what it called a focused ground operation targeting an additional objective In Southern Lebanon to expand Israel’s forward (northern) defense zone.

Acting in parallel to the IDF’s 91st Division the Galilee Formation, which was already on the ground in Lebanon, and following their previous mission, the forces continue the effort to establish the forward defense in order to remove Hezbollah Terror threats located there and to create an additional layer of security for the residents of the north.

Prior to the entry of the forces, the IDF struck numerous terrorist targets in the area using artillery and aircraft of the Air Force.
