Rabid cow in Golan Heights village

A rabid cow in Mevo Hama, Golan Heights, exposed five people to rabies between Jan 16-Feb 2, 2026. The Ministry of Health urges urgent contact for preventive.

Animal Description: the ministry of Health is updating about a cow infected with rabies, in the settlement of Mevo Hama in the Golan Heights. The notification about the infected cow was received today, February 4, 2026.
Dates: January 16, 2026, to February 2, 2026, inclusive.
Description: Five people exposed to the cow have been referred for preventive treatment against rabies.

Instructions:
We request that anyone who was in contact, or whose animals were in contact in the incident areas with the infected animal or a stray animal, between January 16, 2026, and February 2, 2026, inclusive, to urgently contact the Kinneret Health Bureau, telephone 04-6710300, or the Health Bureau closest to their residence, to consider receiving preventive treatment.

The Ministry of Health requests:

* Parents of children – to check with their children if they were in contact with suspected animals and to contact the Health Bureau urgently.

* Pet owners – to contact the municipal veterinarian to verify their vaccination status.

The Ministry of Health reminds again:
For anyone bitten or scratched by an animal, immediately wash the injured area with running water and soap, disinfect with antiseptic agents, and go to the Health Bureau to check if preventive treatment against rabies is necessary.
