There are moments when there is nothing to say.

Just to sit together, to look in the eyes, and to feel what cannot be explained. When, as every year, I met with the widows and orphans of the IDF, I again felt the pain that has no end. The absence that remains at home, in the empty chair, in the voice that does not return. I told them that I too know this fracture closely, the moment when life is cut short at once, but also the long and quiet path on which one learns to breathe again. Slowly, almost imperceptibly, life re-enters, and there are also moments of light, even of joy. It is hard to believe this now, I know, but within all this there is one truth that does not let go: it is not in vain. The dear people we have lost are the reason we are here, they are the ones who hold the long chain of our people. And with all the pain and memory and all that is missing, there is one thing that cannot be taken from you: the knowledge that your heroic fathers are the ones who ensure the eternity of Israel.
