Jerusalem, 11 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — New Albanian Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha, who assumed office on March 6, issued a statement in strong defense of Israel after Israel’s Foreign Minister phoned Hoxha to congratulate him on his new position.

“At these difficult and challenging times, Albania stands in full solidarity with the people of Israel and with all those affected by the attacks carried out by Iran and Hezbollah,” said Hoxha on social media. “Targeting civilians is unacceptable, and we commend the courage and resilience of the Israeli people.”

“Albania supports decisive international efforts to ensure that the Iranian regime is prevented from acquiring nuclear or any other weapons of mass destruction that threaten peace in the region and beyond. Iran deserves a government by the people and for the people,” he added.

Hoxha also revealed that Albania will soon take a formal decision to declare the IRGC “what it truly is: a terrorist organization.”

In addition, Hoxha said that he “deeply value the longstanding friendship and strong ties between Albania and Israel, built on shared values and a unique history of solidarity between our peoples.”
