Jerusalem, 28 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir on Sunday called the agreement with Lebanon “historic and significant” and declared that, “the operational power and military achievements that the IDF attained in recent months are what created the conditions for this.”
“We will respect the agreement and act for its success,” he pledged adding that, “The test now is the test of action by both sides, and the coming period will dictate the future.”
However, Zamir also said that the IDF is Prepared for a “rapid return to fighting both in Lebanon and in Iran, if required to do so.”
The comments came when Zamir visited this morning (Sunday) the IDF’s Northern Command and its 36th Division.
The Chief of Staff held a situation assessment in light of the changing reality, approved plans for continuation, and held a command dialogue with brigade commanders.
