Israel Sees Huge Comeback in Marriages in 2025

Israel's marriage registrations surged 6.41% in 2025, with border towns like Kiryat Shmona seeing a 164% jump. Young couples are building futures in.

Jerusalem, 28 January, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Religious Services revealed the Happiness and Wealth Index 2025- a 6.41% increase in marriage registrations, with an “incredible surge” in weddings in the heart of the conflict line.

There was a 164% jump in marriage registrations in Kiryat Shmona, located on the border with Lebanon. – from 39 couple in 2024 to 103 in 2025.
The Shaar Negev Regional Council, where towns like Sderot and kibbutzim that were attacked on October 7, is showing a comeback with a 67% increase in marriages.

Sdot Negev has also recorded a complete correction.

“Young couples are not only returning to the settlements – they are building their future there, breaking glasses under the canopy and proving that this melody cannot be stopped,” said the Ministry.

In first place overall for 2025 was Tel Aviv with 3,247 couples who registered at the Marriage Bureau of the Religious Council in Tel Aviv, in second place was Jerusalem, with 1,757 couples who registered for marriage. In third place was the Marriage Bureau in Shoham (near Ben-Gurion Airport) with 1,744 couples who chose to register for marriage. In fourth place was the Hof Hasharon Regional Council with 1,572 couples, and in fifth place was Ashdod, with 1,407 couples.
