8,700 Tourists Remain in Israel as Ministry Prepares Land Border Transfers
Israel's Tourism Ministry is arranging free land border transfers for 8,700 remaining tourists, with 5,600 arriving since the war with Iran began.
Jerusalem, 24 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Tourism Ministry Director General Michael Izhakov joined a situation assessment in Ramle, where officials reviewed the status of visitors in Israel. Accordind to the ministry, around 8,700 tourists remain in the country, with 5,600 having arrived since war broke out with Iran on February 28. In response to reduced outbound flights, the Ministry will reinstate free transportation to land border crossings in Amman and Aqaba in Jordan, and Taba in Egypt.
Ahead of Passover, the Ministry aims to ensure safe, orderly departures while also supporting 2,780 evacuees housed in hotels nationwide.
