Man Suffering from Measles Flies from New Jersey to Israel, Public Health Warning Issued
Measles case on El Al flight LY026 from Newark to Ben Gurion Airport on Feb 15-16, 2026. Passengers urged to check vaccination status due to potential exposure.
Jerusalem, 18 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A Man suffering from Measles traveled on a flight from Newark Airport in New Jersey to Ben Gurion Airport in Israel.
According to an epidemiological investigation conducted by the Jerusalem District Health Bureau at the Ministry of Health, it appears that the passenger flew on an El Al flight, flight number LY026, from Newark to Ben Gurion Airport on Sunday, February 15, 2026, which took off at 9:15 PM local time, and landed at Ben Gurion Airport on Monday, February 16, 2026 at 2:30 PM.
Passengers who were on this flight are asked to ensure that they are vaccinated in accordance with the Ministry of Health recommendations:
The Ministry of Health recommends that pregnant women who are not vaccinated with two doses, people suffering from immunosuppression, and infants under the age of one who were on this flight – contact the health bureau in their area of residence to consider administering a passive Measles vaccine.
The ministry urges people who are not feeling well and/or suffering from the symptoms detailed below not to attend mass events and endanger their family and immediate environment.
