Inspections Ordered for Medical Oxygen Tanks Due to Contamination Concerns
Israeli hospitals must inspect all medical oxygen tanks for contamination and consistency, following a refinery safety incident and Ministry of Health.
Jerusalem, 15 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Following reports of a serious safety incident at the refineries in which suspicion arose of the supply of gas tanks containing a toxic substance, and following the instructions of the Safety Administration at the Ministry of Labor, and as a precaution, the Ministry of Health instructed health institutions as early as this morning to conduct an inspection of all air and oxygen tanks in the institutions.
In accordance with the Ministry of Health’s guidelines, a test must be performed to check for consistency between the imprint on the body of the container, the color of the container, and the note indicating the contents of the container and also including the identity of the supplier.
The guideline is that a container in which there is a discrepancy or lack of clarity should be removed from use immediately, marked “not for use” and isolated from the rest.
