Jerusalem, 18 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The government will continue promoting the plan to reduce air pollution in Jerusalem.
It includes continuing to Promote measures to reduce air pollution from transportation in the capital city, along with developing an effective environmental system for enforcement and supervision.
as part of the municipal plan to reduce air pollution from transportation in Jerusalem for the years 2021-2026, the implementation of a reduced emissions zone (LEZ) continues, prohibiting the entry of vehicles defined as polluting throughout the city, as well as prohibiting the operation of polluting mechanical engineering equipment (MEE) throughout the city. Relevant municipal bylaws were enacted to implement these measures, and supervision and enforcement systems were established for their implementation.
The new plan for the years 2027-2031 is a direct continuation of the previous plan and is intended to reduce and mitigate air pollution from transportation in the city. As part of the implementation of the plan, the supervision and enforcement system will be improved, including through technological means, to continue restricting the operation of polluting vehicles and vehicles in Jerusalem and to promote the planning of ULEZ (Low Emission Zones) and ZEZ (Zero Emission Zones) throughout the city.
