Helicopter Recovers Body of Man Found in Ramon Crater
Helicopter rescue team recovers body of man found lifeless at bottom of cliff outside Mitzpe Ramon, Israel, in difficult terrain conditions.
Jerusalem, 8 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A Helicopter rescue team from Israel’s Fire and Rescue department, in cooperation with the Israel Police Air unit, recovered the body of a man who was found lifeless at the bottom of a cliff outside of Mitzpe Ramon, located in the central Negev.
Two rescuers descended from the Helicopter, who strapped the trapped man to a designated stretcher, under difficult terrain conditions, and were then flown directly to the evacuation point.
No information was provided as to how the man died.
Mitzpe Ramon is located above the Ramon crater, the largest natural crater in the world. The area is popular for hiking and the heart shaped crater has a cliff in the center that people climb. There are also cliffs along the crater’s sides.
